COTTO Unveils Innovative Decorative Materials to Create Art Reflecting Climate Change, Inviting Designers to Join REFORM for a Sustainable New World at Architect '67 from April 30 to May 5 at Impact Challenger, Muang Thong Thani
We believe that every designer plays a crucial role in shaping living spaces and every aspect of habitation, and we invite you to join REFORM to be part of the movement towards a better, sustainable world.
COTTO, under SCG Decor, presents groundbreaking ideas with innovative decorative materials through an Art Installation themed COTTO ‘reform the new sustainability, made by you.’ at the event “Architect '67,” which this year features the theme ‘Collective Language: Touching Architecture.’ This theme emphasizes communication through a boundless language, offering another Journey of challenging communication through products such as sanitary ware, faucets, and bathroom fixtures, combined with innovative materials designed to mitigate environmental crises. The experience will include scenarios at the Booth Experience, such as the Iceberg Crack, symbolizing the ongoing changes due to global warming, reflecting Climate Change that impacts people worldwide on a macro scale, along with four other Reform zones: Sea Reform, Land Reform, Temperature Reform, and Tides Reform, inviting designers, who are akin to leaders in creating living spaces, to engage in the event and recognize the importance of selecting materials and products as a starting point to reduce resource consumption that harms the environment, while collectively REFORM to make the world a better place.

COTTO Booth Experience: Under the concept COTTO ‘reform the new sustainability, made by you.’
This journey aims to raise awareness about the impacts of facing a heated world through an Art Installation that simulates the changes in climate, including ICEBERG CRACK representing melting glaciers, SEA REFORM indicating rising sea levels, LAND REFORM depicting land loss due to flooding, TEMPERATURE REFORM highlighting the extreme heat from rising temperatures each year, and TIDES REFORM showcasing the changing underwater ecosystems due to human actions.
LOBBY Zone

ICEBERG CRACK: Melting ice droplets turning into a global danger!
Upon entering the booth, the first zone is the LOBBY, which presents a deep idea about facing global warming on the day glaciers melt—a significant issue that may seem distant but is closer to home than we think. Regardless of how many droplets flow from different directions, it ultimately represents one world that is becoming a global danger! The design utilizes materials innovatively created to address this major challenge, such as the Clay Decor Collection, eco-friendly clay tiles, ECO Clay (Ecological Clay), certified by GREENGUARD, GREEN LABEL SINGAPORE, CE, and European Fire Testing Classification, along with the X-Strong Collection, scratch-resistant tiles that bear heavy loads, complemented by LT by COTTO - Deco Wall.
Moving further in, you will encounter four additional REFORM zones:

SEA REFORM: Rising sea levels representing macro-level changes.
With sea levels rising at an average of 3-5 millimeters per year, there are no signs that this increase will slow down if the world continues to burn fossil fuels. This concept inspired the design of this area to resemble large ocean waves, showcased through the STONE DECOR COLLECTION, created with the intention of reducing resource (stone) usage as a decorative surface material from real natural stone, utilizing advanced technology to produce a thickness of only 1.5-2 mm by extracting the surface from massive stone blocks to create thin sheets, which are then coated with fiberglass using a special method, resulting in thin stone sheets that have patterns and textures resembling natural stone. Their lightweight nature makes installation easier and reduces costs in transportation and construction.

LAND REFORM: Designing objects to float above the ground, raising awareness of land loss after flooding.
The design concept involves pulling every object up to the ceiling and walls, making them float in the air, which deviates from the norm. This simulates a scenario where the world is flooded, rendering the ground invisible, to encourage people to see the changes in the world and reconsider their material choices to improve life and the planet. This is presented through floating floor panels on the walls and ceiling, featuring LT By COTTO products with ULTRA VENEER FLOORING innovation, certified by SCG GREEN CHOICE, promoting environmental and health benefits, saving energy, reducing global warming, conserving natural resources, and extending product lifespan, while being free from harmful chemicals and formaldehyde, ensuring safety for people, animals, and the environment, along with a Zero Waste production process.

TEMPERATURE REFORM: Highlighting warm-toned tiles contrasted with cool tones, emphasizing the fluctuations in global temperatures.
With global temperatures rising by 1.2 degrees Celsius each year, Thailand is expected to face increasingly severe heatwaves and droughts by 2024, with weather conditions fluctuating constantly. This inspired the design of this area, showcasing products from the KLIRR Collection of sanitary ware and faucets, using alternating warm and cool tones to create an atmosphere, enhanced by ambient lighting created by the KIDSBLOOM team.

TIDES REFORM: Utilizing light, color, and sound to reflect the changing underwater ecosystems.
We know that changes in water currents are caused by climate change, primarily driven by human activities. Whether through drilling, transportation, or alterations, both underwater and on land, these actions impact living organisms directly and indirectly. Thus, the design of this area tells the story through products like tiles, faucets, and bathroom accessories, featuring the latest colors to be launched at the event, combined with techniques of light, color, and sound to illustrate the changing underwater ecosystems.

This year, COTTO's Booth Experience is themed ‘reform the new sustainability, made by you,’ with the term REFORM serving as a conceptual starting point, carrying multiple meanings, from changing mindsets to altering rules, prompting us to question how we, as producers and consumers, can adapt and contribute to helping the world. COTTO has developed eco-friendly processes to open perspectives from business partners and experts for the well-being and health of people while minimizing the impact on the planet. Our ultimate goal is to achieve NET ZERO Carbon Emission by 2050. The event “Architect '67” marks another small step for COTTO to showcase innovative design ideas, raising awareness among designers about the importance of selecting eco-friendly materials and products.
